A Beginner’s Guide To Exercise

It’s great to see lots of coverage and articles in the media and online about exercise, but with so much information it can become confusing and daunting to know what’s right, what’s wrong and where to start. The good thing is everyone can exercise and although it can be quite complicated (consider exercise for athletes or those with injuries), for the majority of the population if you’re moving, then you’re doing it right!

I wrote this article for Libero Network, click here to keep reading with my answers to these questions:

Why should I exercise?

What do I need to start exercising?

What type of exercise should I start with?

How hard do I have to work?

Anything else I should know?

Exercise doesn’t need to be hard, it doesn’t need to be high intensity or long durations, it doesn’t need to be a chore. Find something you enjoy, begin at light to moderate intensity and progress from there. Something is always better than nothing. Consistency and routine are important, but it’s not the end of the world if you occasionally miss a day. Remember that everyone has different needs and different goals; find what works best for you.

It’s hard to cover all aspects of starting exercise in one article, so if you’re not sure speak to a fitness professional in your area.

I agree that it’s best to find something that works for you and your needs. In my opinion, doing this will help keep you successful with your workout goals and programs. Also, I love how you mentioned speaking to a personal trainer. In my opinion, these individuals help to steer you in the right direction especially if you are having a hard time figuring out what works for you and what doesn’t. Thanks for sharing!
